My Projects
I am thrilled to share that I am a member of the prestigious National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), a recognition awarded to students who demonstrate excellence of scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship, and service. To be considered for this honor, I was required to write a detailed essay that showcased how I embody these five pillars. In my essay, I highlighted my active involvement in my local church where I often read the Bible to younger children. These experiences have not only enriched my character and sense of community but have also allowed me to demonstrate my leadership and commitment to service. Being a part of the NJHS has opened up further opportunities for me to engage in community service and to make a meaningful impact in my surroundings. Through the society, I have participated in various initiatives such as park clean-ups and food drives, which have deepened my commitment to citizenship and service. This role has allowed me to grow personally and academically, furthering my dedication to making a positive difference in the world around me. The experience of interview a Pineapple Women
What did you learn from her
How did i get ready for the interview?
Reflecting on my first interview with Adrián León during the Pineapple Woman program brings back a rush of nerves and excitement. The founder of Pineapple Woman guided me through my preparation, offering invaluable tips that helped ease my anxiety. Here are some of the strategies she shared:
-
Practice Thoroughly: I rehearsed extensively, which was crucial. It transformed my nervous energy into a more confident delivery.
-
Embrace the Conversation: I learned to view the interview not just as a Q&A session but as a conversation. This mindset shift helped me relax and engage more naturally.
-
Listen Actively: Being prepared allowed me to really listen to Adrián's responses, making the interaction feel like a dialogue between friends.
Adrián was incredibly kind and supportive, which made the experience feel less like an interview and more like a friendly chat. This supportive environment, coupled with the solid preparation and the tips from the founder, allowed me to navigate the interview more comfortably and take away meaningful advice from Adrián.
The experience taught me that thorough preparation can significantly alleviate nerves, transforming an intimidating experience into an enjoyable and educational conversation.
Interviewing a Role Model
3
In 2024, I began creating this website as part of my journey with the Pineapple Women summer program, an eight-week initiative that connects young Latinas with Latinx women role models in various careers. This program not only taught me valuable digital skills but also engaged me in the Pineapple Talk series, where I learned to conduct interviews and interact with inspiring figures of my choosing. The project culminated in the creation of this website, a platform designed to help me understand my own stories and forge my dreams.
Now, as a proud member of this community, I celebrate a culture often underrepresented in many spaces I've encountered. This site serves as a space to explore and define who I am, celebrating each milestone in my journey of self-discovery. Here, I connect, grow, and share my evolving experiences, all while embracing my Latina identity and discovering the vibrant world around us.
