About Me

I am a driven student at Girls Academic Leadership Academy, the first all-girls public school in California. My creativity and determination have led me to excel in academics, sports, clubs, organizations, and hospitals. My talent stems from my love for learning, which I want to further through internship and research oppurtunities.

Achievements

Excellence
I challenge and thrive in rigorous courses. I have taken 16 AP classes, and scored very well on all AP exams including AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Spanish, and AP Computer Science to pursue my passions in Neuroscience and Latina Empowerment.
Advocacy
My love for helping others and art has inspired me to create an initiative to enroll low-income Latino families in health insurance, found a club called Charity Through Art, and volunteer on the Neuro Floor at Cedars Sinai Hospital.
Leadership
I am a trailblazer in my school, Latinx, Jewish, and hospital communities by being Senior and Junior Class President, a pioneer in the first cohort of the 501(C)(3) nonprofit, PineApple Women, Vice President of The LAUSD Chief Medical Director Student Advisory Council and past learning board member of the UCLA Johnsson Cancer Center.

Sofia Gerstein

I want to positively impact the world with my passion for medicine, neuroscience, and art.
